A 12-week beginner walking plan that starts with three easy 20-minute walks and gradually builds to four 45 to 50-minute walks. Each session includes a warm-up and cool-down, and walks can move between days when needed.
Build your walking routine steadily over 12 weeks, starting with three short walks and working toward four or five longer sessions.

How It Works
Count every session from your first warm-up step through your final cool-down step.
Include Ten Minutes
Begin with 5 easy minutes and finish with 5 slower minutes within every listed session time.
Use the Talk Test
Easy walking allows effortless conversation, while brisk walking leaves you speaking in short sentences.
Protect the Weekly Total
Your total walking time matters more than a particular day, so move a session when life gets in the way.
Progress in Order
Add minutes first, then speed, and hills last as you build toward roughly 250 minutes a week.
Recover from Misses
Move one missed walk to the next open day, repeat a week after missing most of it, or step back two weeks after missing at least two.
Hold Week Twelve
Keep your week 12 total steady for one month before adding more.
Walking Sessions
Choose the session named for the day or progression week, then follow its pace and repeat pattern.
Health Check
Ask Before Starting
Speak with a qualified health professional first if you have a chronic condition, significant injury, or unexplained symptoms, because this plan is not medical advice.
